About the Congress
WCCCT brings researchers, practitioners and academicians together to debate the most recent innovations and challenges across computing and communication technology — at one of India's oldest Jesuit institutions.
St. Joseph's College
St. Joseph's College is an affiliated First Grade College of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, established in 1844 by the Fathers of the Society of Jesus. It was affiliated to the Madras University in 1869 and celebrated its sesquicentenary in 1995.
The college acquired the Five Star status awarded by NAAC in 2000, was recognised by UGC as a College with Potential for Excellence in 2004, and is presently nationally accredited at A grade (3rd cycle) by NAAC. The institution trains young men and women to be leaders in all walks of life — to serve the people of the nation in truth, justice and love.
Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science was established in 1983, making university computing education relevant to local needs. B.Sc. Computer Science quickly became a popular course; the PG course in Computer Applications (MCA) and the PG diploma in Computer Science and Applications (PGDCSA) followed in 1984–85.
St. Joseph's College was the first Arts and Science college in the country to introduce the MCA course. M.Sc. Cyber Technology was added in 2000–2001 to meet the demand for internet-application professionals. The department works under the motto 'Towards Professional Excellence' and has hosted several national and state-level conferences and workshops.
